If you want an alternative to Kahoot then you might want to try Blooket.
Blooket is a game-based learning platform that transforms traditional classroom review into an engaging, competitive experience. Designed for students from elementary school to high school, Blooket lets teachers create or choose question sets and launch them into a variety of game modes—from tower defense to racing challenges—that keep students hooked while reinforcing academic content.
Whether you're teaching math, science, history, or language arts, Blooket makes it easy to turn quizzes into interactive battles. Students earn points, unlock characters (called “Blooks”), and compete in real-time or asynchronously, making it ideal for both in-person and remote learning environments
What sets Blooket apart:
Customizable Content: Teachers can build their own question sets or tap into a massive library of pre-made options.
Instant Feedback: Detailed reports help educators track progress and identify learning gaps.
Multiple Game Modes: From strategy-based games to fast-paced trivia, there's something for every learning style.
Some differences from Kahoot is that Blooket feels more like a video game. In Blooket students can play independently which is great for homework or asynchronous learning. Blooket’s strength lies in its engagement for students.
Another great reason to use Blooket is its substitute approved! It is a great resource for when you have a substitute. Blooket is a lifesaver when you’ve got a substitute teacher stepping in. Here’s why it works so well:
Blooket games are intuitive and student-driven. Once launched, students know what to do—no need for deep instruction or classroom management expertise.
Substitutes don’t need to teach the content; they just facilitate the game. That’s a huge win when lesson plans are light or time is short.
Assign games as homework or asynchronous play, so students can continue learning even if the sub isn’t tech-savvy.
You can set up the game remotely and monitor results later. Blooket provides detailed reports on student performance, so you’ll know who participated and how they did.
Ready to try it out, here are some steps to get you started.
