In today’s digital learning environment, quick and effortless planning of interactive lessons has become essential for student engagement. This post will explore how Pear Start works and how you can use it effectively in your classroom.

What Is Pear Start?

Pear Start is a library of AI powered tools that help teachers create engaging lessons and question sets quickly and effortlessly. Pear Start integrates with other technology tools like Google Slides and PowerPoint.

With Pear Start you can create lesson plans for a variety of subjects and grade levels. You can also effortlessly generate worksheets, question sets, PBL activities, and choice boards.

Why Use It in Education?

Pear Start helps teachers create engaging and interactive activities with a few simple phrases and a couple button clicks.

Pear Start can be used to effectively plan and create engaging lessons with very little prep work.

Here’s how to get started:

Step 1: Go to www.peardeck.com

Step 2: Choose Pear Start from the login in menu.

Step 3: Create an account using Google

Step 4: Choose a tool you would like to create with. My personal favorites are “Student Project Creator” and “Worksheet”.

Step 5: Fill in your grade level and the objective.

Step 6: Choose “Select Standards” to select specific TEKS

Step 7: Fill in the needed information and then “Save and Close”

Interface for selecting academic standards. Options for state, subject, grade level. Highlighted math standard 3.2.A in TX. "Save and Close" button.

Step 8: Choose “Generate”. Pear Deck Start will then generate questions on a worksheet. You can make changes to the prompt or select “Transform at the bottom of the screen.

Toolbar with buttons: Transform (green), Copy, Print, Save, Export, Edit. Simple white background.

Step 9: Select what you would like to create. Teacher note: Garland ISD only has access to free parts of Pear Assessment, unless your campus has purchased it.

If you choose “Instant Pear Deck”, you can change the reading level (MY FAVORITE PART!). Once Pear Start generates your Pear Deck, you’re ready to go!

Tips and Tricks:

  • Start small: 5-10 slides is plenty!

  • Make sure to use the “Select Standards Button” to get the best content results.

  • Be sure to preview the Pear Deck before you assign it.

Pear Start is an amazing tool that fosters student engagement with a few simple clicks. It provides opportunities for students to interact with content in a variety of ways and provides students with multiple opportunities to show mastery of the content.
